Well Read Literary Festival, Wasing

14 June

Wasing's boutique literary festival returns for its second year and the 2026 lineup is seriously impressive. In the prettiest of settings, Maggie O'Farrell will launch her new book Land, Miranda Hart will talk healing and honesty while Prue Leith will reflect on the art of ageing well. Between author talks, you can dip into wild swimming, woodland meditation, tarot, bushcraft and the sort of reishi-infused sound baths to make you feel spiritually upgraded.

Royal Windsor Flower Show, Windsor Great Park

6 June 2026

Alan Titchmarsh's favourite flower show is back - smaller than Chelsea, but arguably richer in charm. This year's headline is expected to be the Plants with Purpose Garden, co-designed by Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. Visitors will discover floral displays, cookery demos and best of all, the wonderfully eccentric Competitions Marquee.

Balloon Festival, Newbury Showground

20-22 June

Hot air balloons, in every colour of the rainbow, take centre stage at Newbury Showground late June. The SkySafari Night Glow is the big moment, when tethered balloons light up the night sky, plus a mass launch if the weather plays nice. There's stunt shows, funfair rides and live music to keep all entertained.

Long Walk, Live, Windsor, 26-27 June 2026

Windsor - The Great Walk

A brand-new music festival set on Windsor's iconic Long Walk will headline (the one and only) Chesney Hawkes with tributes to Dua Lipa, Boyzone and ABBA. Think sunshine, street food, family entertainment and picnics. This is Windsor, but not as you've seen it before.

80s, 90s and 00s Silent Disco, Abbey Ruins, Reading, 28 June 2026

80s, 90s & 00s Silent Disco At Reading Abbey Ruins

For one night only, the Abbey Ruins swap history for hedonism with a three-channel silent disco under the stars. The ancient arches will glow neon as dancers switch between soundtrack spanning 80s anthems, 90s club classics and 00s guilty pleasures. Imagine Madonna, Prince, Whitney, Britney and a dash of Duran Duran for good measure. Dressing up encouraged.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year 60, The Base Gallery, Greenham, 6 June-20 July 206

On loan from the Natural History Museum, this 60th anniversary edition of Wildlife Photographer of the Year brings 100 extraordinary images to The Base near Headley. Take in vast Arctic scenes, rainforest close-ups and tiny creatures captured in impossible detail. On 26 June, NHM curator and judge Miranda Lowe shares stories behind the shots.

Royal Ascot, 16-20 June 2026

Ascot

For five gloriously flamboyant days mid-June, racegoers, fashion editors, milliners and Royals flock to Royal Ascot in Berkshire. The flat racing is, of course, world-class, but much of the entertainment is provided by the spectacular hats on show. This year, Royal Ascot unveils its first ever Colour of the Year, a particularly punchy Bright Tomato, so expect bold outfits and even bolder hats.

Mika, On The Mount at Wasing, 26 June 2026

Wasing - The Mount
MIKA

Wasing's woodland amphitheatre is one of the most atmospheric venues in the country, and Mika is its perfect match. His open-air concert will bring multiple costume changes, singalongs and Grace Kelly echoing through the forest for miles around.

National Garden Scheme – Open Gardens, June 2026

National Garden Scheme

The National Garden Scheme gives you permission to wander through immaculate private gardens. This year, there's the chance to snoop around three Berkshire beauties who'll open their gates: St Timothee (12 June), Rooksnest (25 June) and 13 Broom Acres (29 June). Dreamy borders and clever planting ideas aside, each garden offers tea and home-made cake for charity. Tuck in.

Classic Vehicle Day, Yattendon, 28 June 2026

Yattendon Classic Vehicle Day

The Classic Vehicle Day in sleepy Yattendon is always a popular affair, but this year promises to be better than ever. There's even talk of a Battle of Britain Memorial Flypast at the totally brilliant and quintessentially British village fete. The green will fill up with vintage sports cars from old Land Rovers to eccentric classics and (hopefully) the Ferrari Club and Aston Martin Owners Club. Don't miss the vintage stalls and excellent cream teas.

Windsor Championship Dog Show 25 -28 June 2026

Nearly 10,000 impeccably groomed dogs descend on the Royal grounds for four days at this part garden party, part sporting event. Among the wagging tails and gleaming coats, there'll be poker-faced judges and handlers who take it all very seriously. Good news, then, that the newly updated app offers real-time ring times.

Great British Food Festival, Dinton Pastures, 6-7 June 2026

As leafy Dinton Pastures becomes a self-described full-blown foodie playground, visitors will find chef demos, Cake Offs and various Men v Meat challenges. Take a stroll and check out the cook-alongs, live-fire cooking, paint-and-sip masterclasses, foraging walks and lakeside street food.
