There is a strong theme to my beauty discoveries round up this month – those which have immediately made it past the ‘tester’ stage to become mainstays in my own daily skincare and make-up routine – and that is ‘hydration’. By this point in winter my skin is desperate for resuscitation; dull, dry and grey after a winter in hibernation. Hyaluronic acid has always been the poster ingredient for giving skin a shot of renewal and this month’s finds – from a protective SPF to a proverbial hug of a cleansing balm – all deliver in spades. There’s also a timely launch of a spring scent and glowy, glossy make-up to jolt your face back into life, with one slick.

Teoxane

Urban Shield, £60
Urban Shield SPF30

I’m always on the hunt for an SPF with skincare benefits that will genuinely feel like a boost, rather than a chore to wear. I love this balmy, dewy texture from Teoxane. After 20 years of research in hyaluronic acid, their Urban Shield is a triple threat against UV rays, pollution and oxidative stress. Melting into skin with no white cast, it leaves my skin protected and primed ready for my make-up.

Charlotte Tilbury

Pillow Talk Lip + Cheek Glow, £30
Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip And Cheek Glow

This bijou compact has immediately slipped into my daily rotation. It’s a glossy finish that leaves cheeks glowing with health and lips juicy and satin soft. A double-whammy and great for on the go..

Dr Dennis Gross

Hyaluronic Marine Moisture Cushion, £64
Dr Dennis Gross Skincare Hyaluronic Marine Oil-Free Moisture Cushion 60ml Copy

As the name suggests, this hyaluronic acid-rich, gel moisturiser acts as cushion between your skin and environmental aggressors, which are known to stress, clog and dehydrate skin. Think of it as a comfort blanket for skin. I’m always drawn to lighter weight textures come spring and this is like a big gulp of hydration for my skin.

Gatineau

Collagene Expert Melting Cleansing Balm, £48
Collagene Expert

I can’t quite describe the addictive texture of this cleansing balm. It’s dubbed a ‘hybrid gel-balm texture’ that melts into skin, turning to an oil that dissolves make-up, then a milk that rinses away with zero residue on skin, with ceramides and hyaluronic acid to leave skin plump and hydrated. It’s a firm new favourite that my 40+ skin loves.

Westman Atelier

Hydrobalm Tinted Lipstick, £45
Westman Atelier HydroBalm Tinted Lipstick 3.5g

On those days when I don’t want to commit to a lipstick but need an easy hint of colour to wake up my face, this new hydrobalm from make-up artist genius, Gucci Westman is exactly what I reach for. Full of ceramides, nourishing plant butters and hyaluronic acid, it’s sheer, nourishing colour in one.

Diptyque

Lazulio, £265

One sniff of this new scent from Diptyque and I feel optimistic for spring. With sparkling rhubarb notes, sharp and sour, balanced with warm, sweet benzoin and velvety rose at its heart, it’s an investment fragrance but for those looking to change up their scent this spring, this could be perfect.

OGX

Progrowth + Peptide Shampoo, £10
Progrowth

I’ve really noticed a difference since using this pro-growth shampoo, with a halo of baby hair sprouting around my hairline. Gently exfoliating with Mandelic Acid, it cleanses the scalp and unclogs follicles to boost natural hair growth.
