Autumn/Winter 2025 is shaping up to be a season of contrasts if the beauty trend reports are to be believed: romance meets edge, polish meets attitude, elegance meets rebellion. Forget flawlessness: the vibe is all about texture, colour and finish.

These are the nine trends defining the beauty trends of AW25, should you wish to give your beauty bag a seasonal reboot.

Satin Sheen Skin

Glossy glass skin has had its moment. AW25 replaces it with satin – a softer, more diffused glow seen at Dior and Balmain. Luminous but never shiny, it’s a finish that feels modern, wearable and quietly luxurious. Think candlelight on skin.

Laissez-Faire Hair

Hair rejects perfection this season. Natural curls, soft frizz and windswept buns dominated the shows, with texture taking precedence over polish. It’s lived-in, relaxed and very deliberate – beauty that embraces reality, rather than erasing it (hurrah!).

Boy Blush

Boyfriend blush was a big thing in 2024 – and it’s going nowhere. Max Mara’s models wore it unapologetically across the mid-cheek, giving that wind-bitten flush usually reserved for winter walks. It’s youthful, romantic and energising, with placement kept fresh rather than delicate. Think a young Prince William and you can’t go wrong.

Retro Crimps & Curl Panels

Y2K texture is back with a ’25 update. At Chet Lo, only sections of the hair were crimped or curled, leaving the rest natural for contrast. It’s playful, nostalgic and statement-making, but refined enough to feel current.

Warm Browns

This season’s neutral is cocoa-toned. Warm matte browns, terracottas and soft taupes swept eyes, lips and cheeks, creating monochromatic palettes with depth. Comfort shades, but chic.

Graphic Eyes

Eyeliner takes a bolder turn for AW25. Sharp wings, floating lines and graphic shapes were seen at Rick Owens and Ferragamo, replacing smoky eyes with something cleaner and more architectural. The key is precision - black ink, crisp edges and placement that feels modern.

Vinyl Lips

Lips this season are unapologetically glossy. High-shine vinyl finishes appeared in deep reds, berries and noirish plums, contrasting with the muted textures elsewhere on the face. It’s bold, sensual and made for evening — the opposite of the pared-back, tinted balms of summer.

Bleached Brows

Bleached-out arches reappeared on multiple runways for AW25, shifting the focus back to eyes and skin. The effect is stark but striking, stripping away definition to create a cleaner, more directional look. Not for everyone, but undeniably modern. Do you dare?

Sculpted Minimalism

Sculpted cheekbones, sharp contours and strategic highlight give pared-back faces an edge. It’s all about subtle definition, as seen at Jil Sander and Bottega Veneta. Quiet, powerful, and distinctly AW25.
