Inspired by a magical fortnight in Italy, Jo Mackay launched Bookings For You in May 2011. Her aim from the start was to offer her customers an exceptional level of service. Come what may – and as the business and Mackay’s passion for all things Italian have blossomed – this personalised attention to detail has remained a priority.
When she started out, Mackay says: “There was a gap in the market for self-catering properties and for companies who provided good advice and good local knowledge of the area.
“Italy is such a wonderful country but I found that the Italians just didn’t sell themselves. We found it almost impossible to find out about what to see and do during our holiday there.
“As a result, I wanted to be able to provide holidaymakers with not just great accommodation but also the extra advice and information needed for them to really make the most of their stay in this beautiful country.”
Bookings For You has over 300 properties to rent across several regions, including Tuscany, Umbria, the Italian Lakes, Central Florence and Lazio as well as Puglia, Le Marche and the Amalfi Coast. Since last year, they’ve had villas in Provence and Monaco in France on offer as well. All of the houses and apartments have been visited and vetted by the Bookings For You team.
It comes as no surprise that Bookings For You has won or been shortlisted for several awards. The site is a pleasure to use, thanks to its gorgeous photography, efficient search function and clever interactive map. Plus, it is rare these days to find such a consistent focus on customer service.
The website assures: “Recognising that planning a holiday doesn’t fit within normal office hours, Jo personally aims to be contactable every day of the week, both during the day and in the evening.
“She will do her best to answer any question you might have about any aspect of your holiday. If she doesn’t know the answer, she will do the research to find it out!”
