MARCUS'S FAVOURITE SITES

Bloomberg: Richard Vines - I enjoy reading Richard Vines’s column on Bloomberg. I think he comes across as fair and honest. I also know he gets to know a place a couple of times before reviewing which means his comments are generally really believable.

BBC News and Sports - I spend the majority of my day at work from 8am until midnight. If I didn’t catch up on the news during the day then I would be completely in the dark from one weekend to the next! I tend to trust the BBC and the news is updated fairly frequently, there is also good sports coverage. I am a big fan of football (Liverpool in particular) and boxing as I was an amateur in my youth. The BBC covers all bases and I can also watch the coverage live if I have the chance.

Amazon - I use this a lot for many items as it’s quick and easy and they deliver! I have a huge collection of cookery books and I tend to add to it using Amazon. I don’t really have time to browse book shops so this is the next best thing, it’s also very good value. My most recent purchase was Mugaritz: A Natural Science of Cooking by Andoni Luis Aduriz – a great Spanish chef with some amazing modern cuisine which is well worth a look!

Farmison - I really like this website. My wife introduced me to it recently. She also works which can make it difficult to get to a shop so this is the perfect opportunity to purchase excellent quality produce from her desk. I really like the site as it offers excellent quality produce from some of the suppliers that we use at Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley.

The Caterer and Hotelkeeper - I have read this magazine for years, since I first started out and I still get my copy every Thursday. I regularly have a look on the website to see what is happening in my industry and I find this site to be easy to follow, believable and often contains news about people I know! We also use it to advertise for jobs too.

The London Evening Standard
- This site is about the city that I live in so it’s a great opportunity to see what is happening. It’s very up to date and often relevant to my business, there is a mix of global news and local news. I like reading it on a Friday as the magazine has lots of interesting stories.
