In 2016, Daisy Knatchbull made history by becoming the first-ever woman to wear a bespoke top hat and tails to the Royal Enclosure at Ascot. It turned out to be a eureka moment. Inspired by the overwhelmingly positive response, she duly harnessed her lifelong love of Marlene Dietrich-style androgyny and, referencing those heroines of yesteryear such as Katharine Hepburn who wore trousers when masquerading as a man was still a criminal offence, she called time on the gentleman-centric Savile Row by founding the first tailor’s house solely for women. And, just like that, The Deck was born, suitably sharp from the off.

She says, ‘The core of The Deck London is built on the values of empowerment and equality. Our like-minded community is network of supportive women who help each other, so that we can also help others to feel empowered.’ As such, every The Deck suit comes with a signature ace stitched into ins cuff, a reminder of the inner resources and strength each and every one of us has up our sleeves. Amen to that.

A definite force for good if used in the right way, although we all need to get better at time without too!
