The launch of #vanrobots coincided perfectly with thoughts turning to Christmas wish lists. They definitely appear on mine. Tatiana Van Lancker has created VAN fine jewellery with the inspiration and aim of designing heritage pieces that transcend time and place.

The launch collection consists of four VAN ROBOTS: Pinky, Smeraldo, Roma and Amore. These joyous, characters as animated on the homepage, are created with articulated arms and legs. With an approx height of 40mm, width 36mm, all are made in 18kt gold and precious stones and can be bought with an optional 18kt Yellow Gold 500mm, 9gr chain.

Smeraldo Van Robot

Available to buy on the company’s website, the 4 robots feature variations in gem combinations, listed as birth stones. My favourites are Smeraldo, containing 18kt Yellow Gold approx 10.50gr, 1 oval Emerald 0.32ct, 14 round brilliant Diamonds 4.34ct, 1 square Peridot 1.27ct, 2 square Rhodolites 3.50ct, 2 square Aqua Chalcedony 2.46ct and also AMORE VAN ROBOT in 18kt Yellow Gold approx 10.50gr with 1 oval Tanzanite 0.265ct, 14 round brilliant Tanzanites 2.8ct, 1 square Amethyst 1.07ct, 2 square Citrines 2.48ct, 2 square Peridots 3.12ct

Creativity is a key element of VAN and the fun online bespoke service gives customers the ability to create their own Robots, changing the stones in the head, body, hands and feet. These take 8 weeks to create and deliver. I got very easily carried away playing with this page, adding my own birthstone (Sapphire) and checking the combinations of stones in my robot. There is also an engraving option to personalise further.

Amore Van Robot

With a passionate for art deco jewellery and a love for contemporary design, Tatiana wanted to fuse the two into jewellery that feels relevant today . Each pendant is a unique piece handcrafted by local artisans in Tuscany, Italy, where the Van Lancker family have a home. This focus on family is key to VAN. The small bespoke atelier in Arezzo, Tuscany, one of the world’s gold capitals, is family run and known for their exceptional attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship.

Together with Eleanor Lancaster, Tatiana already has a successful business, Studio LVL and spent a decade of experience working for Conran+Partners, Staffan Tollgard Design Group and Soho House Group. She loves jewellery that start a conversation and has an element of surprise. Wearing one of these little robots will certainly do that! VAN ROBOTS symbolise the playful futurism which VAN plans to continue to explore in future collections. The brand has a desire to create beautiful heirlooms which can be loved by future generations.
