Sometimes the most successful designer launches on Girl Meets Dress are labels recommended to me, and they don’t necessarily need to be the most established designer houses. Best friends and London College of Fashion alumni, Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey, launched the distinctively British, vintage inspired womenswear label RIXO London two years ago.

Perfect for wearing to work, meetings around town and hot city evenings, my favourites are the Skylar, Coleen, Fedora and Phoebe .

I absolutely love the following dresses for upcoming weddings and taking on holiday adventures: Rose, Adriana and Abigail.

Sharing a passion for vintage clothes, the name evolves from an amalgamation of the young Creative Directors own names. They were buyers at ASOS before spotting a gap in the market for vintage-inspired designs at a reasonable price. The brand appeals perfectly to this summer’s main trend for florals, and proves that daytime, floor-length can be casual.

Featuring mystical prints and embroidery, the inspiration for RIXO has a grown-up bohemian aesthetic. Modern and wearable pieces in bright colours and feminine plunging necklines. Henrietta and Orlagh both love the 70s, and draw inspiration from their own personal silk vintage Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell dresses. Their very first 100% silk “Virtues of Rosemary” collection included the iconic Camellia dress. When this sold out they decided to bring it back in every print collection since.

The RIXO girls decided no piece would ever be mass produced, and collaborate with highly skilled English factories, vigilantly overseeing the whole garment process. Their feminine original hand-painted prints, silk blouses, skirts and dresses are worn by celebs including Kylie Minogue and Margot Robbie, and have a cult following on Instagram.

Though there are many brands currently online selling 100% silk lightweight dresses for double the price, Rixo feel strongly about creating a product that is value for money, and affordable for their younger clients.

Now stocked on Net-a-Porter, Liberty, Selfridges — as well as many boutiques around the world — Rixo is launching in Harrods very soon and also introducing accessories - bags, belts, jewellery, swimwear etc. Exciting collaborations being unveiled during London fashion week in September mean a very busy few months ahead.
