A mix of antique and modern furniture, pictures, books and living accessories, linens, candles, vases, and lights. Sourced from England, France, Belgium, Germany, Turkey and India, it sells pieces that are not easily found elsewhere.

If you are not able to get to the shop, there is an excellent website and deliveries of wrapped brown paper parcels are made worldwide. International customers now account for a quarter of their sales.

Candlestick

Close friends Ben Pentreath and Bridie Hall never expected to open their own interiors store – but Ben, an architectural and interior designer and Bridie, a decorative artist and maker, both bring a powerful creative dynamic to the shop that they have run together since 2008. Originally called Ben Pentreath Ltd, it became Pentreath & Hall in 2013. They only sell things that they would want in their own homes and together have created one of the most keenly watched stores in the London decoration world. With a cult following, loyal customers consistently flock to the Bloomsbury premises and their online site.

Alphabet Brush Pots

Designing their own line such as these lampshades to sit alongside notable brands and designers such as Peter Hone, Astier de Villatte, and John Derian, they love a mix of new and old, and enjoy finding inspiring smaller makers and people who are keeping the traditions of their craft alive.

I love the creamware candlesticks that have been made by an independent maker in Stoke-on-Trent, and the delicate embroidered table linen

Table Linin

Inspiration, Ben’s weekly blog, is a creative content for him to stay connected with his customers and followers, and is read by thousands of fans around the globe.

As I finish writing, I pop my pen back in it’s ‘A’ glass coloured lacquer Alphabet brush pot by Birdie Hall, bought for me during lockdown as a present.
