Anna tells us why nightwear pyjama brand, Desmond & Dempsey, is on her urgent shopping list for spring.

There are two things in a brand that I particularly have a soft spot for. Being manufactured in Britain, and having a cute creation story. Add to that, traditional floral prints – and you’ve immediately got a new fan.

Desmond & Dempsey ticks these boxes. Joel and Molly grew up on opposite sides of the world… one in Australia… one in England… and after meeting in Canada and following much skyping, Molly moved to the UK to be with Joel.

Having started my own company, Girl Meets Dress, with my then partner Xavier, I appreciate what it takes to launch and run a business together. At least Joel and Molly are comfortable and warm during late night spreadsheet and fabric design meetings. They have created Desmond & Dempsey, a nightwear pyjama brand, that I have on my urgent shopping list for Spring.

A familiar story with couples, Joel noticed Molly borrowing his shirts and they decided she needed her own.

They reimagined the man’s shirt for the bedroom and tailored it for her. Their prints are exclusive, hand painted in London and inspired by the albums and journals of the English adventurer. Flora, fauna and birds from exotic landscapes in twilight colours tell the tales of their worldly explorations. Made from the best quality cottons and traditional textures. Timeless classics. Mother of pearl buttons and comfortable drawstring waistbands, with added girly touches… rolled cuffs, slip on shorts and pockets. These pyjamas are made to be loved, and last.

Stocked in Fortnum & Mason, Selfridges, Liberty and Mr Porter, the choice of print will be your biggest challenge. I love the pink and green Bromley Parrot,

the Forest Green Pomme,

and the Fern Signature series

– which has been recently re-launched. All of course with the matching print double breasted cotton voile house coat,

inspired by the English trench.

They also make his and hers - furry on the inside – espadrille slippers, as well as candles, notebooks and eyemasks which make the perfect gifts.

Oh, and they have an optional bespoke monogramming service on all items, for those of you who love to initial your belongings.

You will now want to spend all Sunday in bed. And of course, that’s Desmond & Dempsey aim.
