Calling all hot-drink addicts nationwide! There’s a new china brand on the scene, and it’s causing quite a stir. We will be eternally grateful to the likes of Emma Bridgewater, Sophie Conran and Cath Kidston for bringing their tasteful mugs to the middle-class masses. But it’s time for these grandes dames to welcome a newcomer to our kitchens.

With a background in interior design, Jo Deakin has just produced a zingy new range of cups, saucers and mugs that are designed to be mixed and matched to make a truly bespoke collection.

Part of what makes the range so appealing is the care that has gone into its creation. Jo Deakin, a mother of two, sure is passionate about china. She says: “I believe that comforting drinks taste better in fine bone china. I believe it matters what that china looks like on the table, how it feels to use and what it means to share with others. I want style, quality and choice to be on offer every time you go to your cupboard.”

Well, style, quality and choice are what you get with Jo’s modern patterns (think zig zags, ripples and stripes) in bold colours set against elegant, bright-white backgrounds. Here at the Good Web Guide, we’d like our strong tea with a dash of milk in the Ebb mug, please. In fact, we’ll take one in every colour.

We caught up with Jo to hear how she is feeling in the wake of this month’s launch.

“I am learning so much as I go along,” she told us. “I hope to launch a full range of kitchen china, with the mix and match vibe running through all of the products, in due course. Again, the emphasis will be on being able to build your own collection so that the table looks individual and contemporary every time.”

As Jo would say herself, let’s get our sip on!
