From cult classics to under-the-radar hero products: our top Cult Beauty buys right now.

In this month’s beauty haul we are filling our virtual basket at the skincare and make-up Mecca that is Cult Beauty. Launched by ex-model and beauty PR, Alexia Inge and Jess DeLuca back in 2008, the ideas was to cut through the marketing jargon and sales promises of many beauty outlets and department stores and give shoppers real, editorial-style content to help inform their buys. ‘Cult’ products sit alongside niche brands to give shoppers a mix of tried-and-tested formulas, as well as the high that all beauty junkies will be familiar with of discovering a new, favourite brand. The site’s content is as good as its edit of products, with how-to guides and trend reports on the latest must-haves in the world of beauty.

This month we are focusing on new launches, as well as the targeted products you might want to add to your arsenal after the summer holidays.

Glow Recipe

Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm, £29

A Cult Beauty exclusive, this K-Beauty inspired skincare range harnesses the power of fruit enzymes to resurface dull, uneven skin as well as to deliver a hefty dose of Vitamin C to help reduce any summer pigmentation and dark spots. It melts away make-up effectively, purifying pores and leaving skin brighter and smoother.

Oribe

Power Drops Colour Preservation Booster, £54

Using ‘skincare level technology and ingredients’, Oribe’s super luxe new Power Drops deliver a high-potency treatment range to stressed-out tresses. In the collection there are serums for hydration, damage, as well as ‘colour preservation’. If you’re not visiting the salon as frequently as you’d like, this concentrated elixir protects your colour from UV rays with vitamin C and bioflavonoids (which give fruits their pigment-rich hues) as well as a hefty dose of quinoa proteins to nourish and smooth. Perfect for keeping those inevitable, post-summer, straw-like locks at bay.

Victoria Beckham Beauty

Smoky Eye Brick, £50

Victoria Beckham’s eponymous beauty range offers modern, clean formulas that have really been thought about. This compact, for instance, gives you the colours you need to create a smoky eye in the ratios that you use them – a small thing but it will mean you never hit the pan on one colour before the rest to avoid wastage. There are no token foam applicators here; it’s all about delivering maximum product, with a good size mirror for on-the-go touch ups and richly pigmented colours – all wrapped up in a super luxe compact, as you’d expect from Ms. Beckham. Choose from a signature edit of creamy browns (Victoria’s favourite); a fashion-forward navy and cobalt blue palette; or a universally flattering terracotta look.

Pixi

Dream-y Mist, £16

Designed as the final step in your nightly skincare routine, this is another excellent exclusive to Cult Beauty. A botanical fuelled mist, it will not only seal in your skincare benefits and add hydration while you sleep as well as a hefty boost of antioxidants, but there’s also jasmine to brighten, lavender to soothe and chamomile to calm. Instilling zen and inviting slumber with one spritz, it’s one part skincare, one part sleep potion. Magic stuff.

Hourglass

Ambient Lighting Infinity Powder, £49

This beautifully marbled, glow-boosting finishing powder from Hourglass (who reached ‘cult status for its ‘filter worthy skin finishing products’) is the perfect addition to your summer make-up kit if you’re looking to prolong that healthy, summer glow just a little while longer (or fake it all together if you’re staying in the UK this year). The super-size, hand-blended pan uses the latest photoluminescent technology to illuminate skin with a soft-focus finish (think your favourite Instagram filter, IRL). Dusted over make-up, it gives an unperceivable inner glow, without a hint of glitter – best suited to light/medium skin tones in need of a shot of radiance.
