Handmade fibres continue to be a big story in fashion for 2020. And we couldn’t be more delighted. In an industry that typically churns out styles only to discard them weeks later, it’s good to see a nod towards more home-spun – and long-lasting – materials. And for anyone who still associates crochet with a more, shall we say, grannyish vibe, think again. Stella McCartney’s take on the look comes in the form of dresses with plunging necklines, while at Giambattista Valli, it was all about crocheted crop tops (a combo your grandmother is unlikely to have foreseen).

Summer may feel a way off, but before we know it we’ll be replenishing our severely depleted Vitamin D levels and moaning about the heat. But not this year, not us: we’ll be prepared. And so will you with our edit of lovely crochet pieces to whet your appetite for the rays.
