The founder and creative director of Firmdale Hotels has a much-aped style – and for good reason. We love these three looks – here’s how to get them at home.
Kit Kemp is an internationally acclaimed interior designer who just so happens to also be behind the ever-chic Firmdale Hotels. Informal and unafraid to use colour and pattern, we love her signature joyful interiors, which are cosy yet contemporary. She once told House & Garden, ‘In my sitting room, the chairs are covered in a mishmash of playful, bright fabrics. Felt figures have been appliqued on a green armchair; and clash in the best possible way with an orange Ben¬nison fabric. Never take things at face value; mix old furniture with new fabrics. Be as bold as you dare.' Words to live by.
Here we take a look at three of her best designs – and plot how to steal her style.

This classic Kit Kemp look is textural and warm yet ultra-contemporary. Here’s how to steal it.

For really special frames, we love A.Prin. These will instantly add a unique pop of colour to any wall.

Our favourite new discovery is a beautiful hand-painted lacquered reeded frame. Paint yours in bright red to get the look.

We would frame a selection of these giclée fine art reproductions on watercolour paper.

Kit Kemp is a huge fan of felt, embroidered cushions. Ape her style with these Jan Constantine alpine dove embroidered ones.

Who wouldn’t want to dive into this plump orange sofa, or kick up their legs on this beautiful ottoman? Here’s how to steal the look.

We love this orange contrasting piped sofa. Get the look with a Byron and choose the fabric yourself.

This sculptural lamp is a showstopper. Get the look with Pooky’s Crescent table lamp in white marble.

This acrylic pink neon flowers painting would look incredible with a contrasting neon hand-painted frame.

The perfect guest bedroom is welcoming, warm and comfortable, as well as chic. This is how Kit Kemp styles hers – and this is how we’d steal it.

We love a huge, statement headboard and if you’re going to do it properly, John Haswell is the master of upholstery. Choose one of his beautiful fabrics and let him work his magic.

We love the cosiness of this room, in particular the warm tone of the wallpaper. Get the look with this Haven wallpaper, by Thibaut.

We really like the simplicity of the bedside table here. Achieve this look with one of our favourites, Scumble Goosie. If you fancy a cheerier colour, choose from an array of colours and finishes.

A bed valance will complete this whole look. These ones from Zara Home are spot on.
