Much longed-for summer evenings are at last upon us and while the weather may yet be variable, we intend to take full advantage of the fine days and nights as they stretch ahead. To that end, you’ll find us sitting out as late as possible as often as possible with the aid of some beautiful, atmospheric garden lighting.

Soft and subtle – rather than bright and brash – is the key here, all augmented with beautiful flickering candlelight. And once the lighting is right, we’ll be dining al fresco well past the point that summer has officially departed (a firepit and a blanket round the shoulders should do the job just fine as the nip creeps back into the air). Even in the winter, we love looking out on an illuminated garden from the warmth of the house, as opposed to a dark void. Here are a few ideas for lighting your garden at the flick of a switch.
