What do the design cognoscenti give at Christmas? And, more to the point, what do you buy for such arbiters of elegance? Luckily, we have the inside scoop, courtesy of six of our very favourite designers who share what they’ll be giving this year, as well as the beautiful pieces teetering at the top of their wish lists.

GOOD CHEER HAMPER

On my wish list for Christmas is something I have wanted for so long: a Daylesford Hamper . I have so many mouths to feed over Christmas that I couldn’t think of anything nicer than one of these arriving.

Girlie Stuff

I am slightly obsessed with Anya Hindmarch's Labelled collection. I have her in-flight duffle bag and it has made travelling so much less stressful as there is a place for everything. I'll be treating both my daughters to one of her nylon 'Girlie Stuff' pouches to help them get more organised. I'll be buying my assistant one of these beautiful silk bags from Grace Wears. I love when things are handmade and these bags are a beautiful addition to any party outfit.

Claudia Rankin Platter

I enjoy collecting ceramics and have my eye on a series of new plates by Claudia Rankin. Available through WSJ Gallery, she depicts fantastical creatures and motifs in wonderful colours and patterns. I already own one of her caddies and would love more!

Home and Found is an online shop set up by Interior Designer Tamsin Saunders. She has an ever-evolving collection of one-off, beautiful homewares, from lamps to rugs and cushions, furniture and artwork. I have been coveting this pair of Sgraffito lamps. The colours are stunning.

I love all things John Derian and am hoping someone buys me his calendar for 2024. We have it in the office and it's always a joy to see what image a new month will bring.

Polly Fern A5 Keepsake Box

I like to give lots of little gifts. I usually pop into town and get bits from the deli and local independent shops. I sell handmade paper products in my online shop, and I often fill one of my Keepsake boxes with little gifts.

Bargello

Christmas is one of the only times in the year I get to unwind, so I love to have a little creative but relaxing project on the go. The Fabled Thread recently launched their new Bargello needlepoint kits. I particularly love The ‘Weave’ in Yellow and would happily be in my pjs on the sofa sewing one of these!

The Sensational Stripey Candlestick

I will be gifting The Stripey Embroidered Envelope Cushion from our exciting collaboration with Sarah Corbett-Winder, which is perfect for my stepdaughter – her house is very fun and eclectic! For a smaller gift, The Sensational Stripey Candlestick is so versatile, it can work in anyone’s interior – making it a superb gift.

Our Bel Apron is also a perfect gift, paired with the Bel Tea Towels. They are a must for those who love cooking! The apron is designed more like a dress and looks very chic. This will be perfect for my sister who is a brilliant cook.

SET OF 5 EAUX DE TOILETTE Copy

I have asked for this Diptyque Fragrance Set as the scent I use doesn’t come in a small size like these, which is perfect for travelling, so I've been thrilled to discover these. My favourite is the Do Son fragrance.

I'd also love this book: De Gournay: Art On The Walls authored by Claud Cecil Gurney. I have hankered after this for a couple of years now. The iconic hand-painted silk wallpaper really brings interiors to life.

Indigo Rain

Some crockery from the Faye Toogood x 1882 ceramic collection 'Indigo Rain' . I love a stripe and this striking collection of earthenware is has a cool urban feel to it. The painterly washes of watercolour are applied to a rough canvas and then transferred directly on to the pieces which gives each piece a unique feel and look. I might have to keep one for myself!
