The best of the best in the sharing economy.

Taking the lead from some of this week's guest contributors, notably Richard Laughton, CEO of easyCar Club, who writes on why trust is key to growing the sharing economy and Vincent Gibson of Centric App 18861 who mentions two stalwarts of the industry, Airbnb and Uber, we write about the leaders in the field.

If you haven't downloaded the app yet, why not, as Uber is one of the smartest and most cost effective ways to get around. One tap on your smartphone and a car will be winging its way towards you. Payment is cashless so wherever you find yourself in need of a ride. you won't be stranded.

Little needs to be said about Airbnb as it is the go-to site for unique accommodation around the world. Why stay in a hotel, when you can rent out a flat/room and connect with locals? Founded in August of 2008, the company's success has been exponential, with properties in 34,000 cities in 191 countries. And of course it's a great way to monetise unused space in your home.

Airbnb for boats, Antlos lets travellers book authentic boat holiday experiences directly from local skippers at an affordable price. Antlos aims to make yachting more accessible, by giving a free marketplace to skippers, giving them the ability to offer the best prices for their boat holiday offerings. Unlike charter agencies, Antlos doesn't charge any commission to skippers for holidays booked on the website.

Got some space in your garden for people to camp in? We suggest you sign up with Campspace, who will market your garden for you. There are 1000 micro campsites listed on every continent, except Antartica.

2015's GWG Website of the Year, TrustedHousesitters connects home and pet owners who need a sitter, when they're away, with trustworthy people who are happy to sit for free. Properties are amazing and as a sitter, you could find yourself travelling the world whilst looking after people's treasured pets.

Another favourite here at The GWG, for dog lovers. Whether you own a dog and need someone to give it some tlc when you're out or if you want to care for a dog, borrowmydoggy is the site for you. It's a win-win situation with high paws all round, with 300k members in the UK and Ireland.

easyCar Club is the UK’s largest peer-to-peer car rental market place, where car owners can make money by renting out their vehicles when they’re not using them. This in turn helps drivers save money through cheaper more convenient, local car hire. Launched nationwide in 2014, easyCar Club has thousands of cars on its books in convenient and local locations.

Make money by renting out your parking space, whether it's your drive or an under-used garage. Add your listing, say when it's available and watch the money roll in.

Streetbank lets you share things with your neighbours. The Times says it's 'One of the 50 websites you can't live without' and it definitely puts neighbourly back in the hood. You can give things away, share things and share skills.

Got a bike that you're not using? Why not rent it out through Spinlister, the site that helps connect active people with trusted bike owners around the world. You can also list surftoards and snowboards.
