Far from a simple ride in a lift, it is billed as an experience; one that begins in the turbine hall, where visitors may peruse original records and multi-media displays as well as learning about the history of the building, and culminating in a breath-taking view of London from atop a chimney. The circular glass lift whisks voyagers up some 109 metres – hence its name – and is fast becoming one of the capital’s must-try activities. Look out London Eye!

The ride alone would make for a spectacular Valentine’s date. However, romantics rejoice, for London’s oldest florist, Moyses Stevens, is all set to dress Lift 109 for the day and thus further glamorize the whole affair. Wish to be alone with your beloved? There will be private rides available too. Love will, quite literally, be in the air in Battersea this 14 February.

Dan Westley, Leasing Director at Battersea Power Station Development Company
(BPSDC), said: ‘In just a few short months following its launch last November, Lift 109 has become a must-visit experience for London offering an immersive glimpse into the iconic Battersea Power Station’s history and unparalleled views of the city skyline. We are thrilled to see Lift 109 evolve and add new elements to the experience this Valentine’s Day which will provide our guests with one of the most unique ways to celebrate the occasion and treat their loved ones.’

Up, up and away. And, once back down to earth, make straight for a glass of something celebratory at Vagabond Wines. Cheers to that. Book it here.
