Launched each year during International Women’s Month, the campaign brings together supporters, businesses and communities to raise funds that help young women gain the skills, confidence and opportunities they need to move forward. At its core lies a simple but powerful idea: with the right support at the right time, a young woman’s life can be transformed.
Why the campaign matters
Across the UK, thousands of young women aged 16–24 are not currently in education, employment or training. Many face complex barriers including mental health challenges, caring responsibilities, financial instability or limited access to role models and professional networks.
The King’s Trust works with young people aged 11–30 who are struggling at school, unemployed, or facing particularly difficult circumstances – from leaving care to homelessness or involvement with the justice system. Its programmes offer practical and emotional support designed to help young people rebuild confidence and develop real, lasting opportunities.
Funds raised through Change a Girl’s Life help provide access to training courses, career mentoring, work placements and interview preparation. In many cases, the support can be surprisingly practical: grants may cover travel to interviews, childcare costs, work clothing or essential equipment such as laptops. For young women facing financial barriers, these seemingly small interventions can make the difference between opportunity and exclusion.
Ultimately, the goal is not just employment, but empowerment – helping young women feel confident in their abilities and equipped to shape their own futures.

The Brilliant Breakfast

One of the campaign’s most popular fundraising initiatives is the Brilliant Breakfast which runs in March. The event invites individuals, workplaces and communities across the UK to host a breakfast gathering in support of the cause.
The concept is refreshingly simple: bring people together over coffee, pastries or a full breakfast spread, and ask guests to donate what they might otherwise spend on their morning meal. From intimate kitchen-table gatherings to corporate events and networking breakfasts, every contribution helps fund programmes that support young women into work, education or training.
The initiative highlights how small, collective acts of generosity can create meaningful change. Find out more here.
Women supporting women
The campaign sits within the Trust’s wider Women Supporting Women network, which brings together female philanthropists, entrepreneurs and business leaders committed to helping the next generation of women succeed.
Among its leading champions is jewellery entrepreneur Annoushka Ducas, founder of Links of London and Annoushka, who originally launched the Brilliant Breakfast concept and now serves as a Patron of Women Supporting Women at The King’s Trust.
Entrepreneur Freya Rose, founder of Freya Rose London, is another ambassador for the campaign. Having received mentorship and a start-up loan from The King’s Trust early in her career, she now champions the initiative through fundraising collaborations and advocacy for female entrepreneurship.
A collective effort
Today, a growing number of brands, partners and individuals support the campaign through fundraising events, product collaborations and community initiatives. Each contribution helps The King’s Trust continue delivering life-changing programmes for young women who might otherwise struggle to access opportunity.
Because sometimes, changing a girl’s life starts with something as simple as someone believing in her potential. Through guidance, practical support and a powerful network of women lifting each other up, The King’s Trust is helping thousands of young women rewrite their stories – and build brighter futures in the process.
