Chelsea has long been associated with artists and writers. Rex Whistler, Oscar Wilde, JMW Turner, Henry James, Augustus John, Bram Stoker, Thomas Carlyle and Bram Stoker, to name but a few, all lived in its now eye-wateringly priced houses. The Chelsea Arts Club still thrums with life, attracting relics of a former time alongside those who may never have known the area in its former eclecticism, creativity and eccentricity but chase those days nonetheless. And for anyone looking for somewhere that such spirit still reigns, the lesser-known London Sketch Club is well worth wangling membership to.

To honour that spirit, an all-new festival bursts onto London’s cultural scene this September 18 – 21. The Chelsea Arts Festival is awakening the borough with a bold fusion of storytelling, music, theatre, dance, film, visual art, literature, and even podcasting. Taking place across iconic venues like Cadogan Hall, Saatchi Gallery, and the Royal Court Theatre, the festival offers accessible ticketed events and free outdoor performances alike, spilling into King’s Road, Duke of York Square, Sloane Street, and Sloane Square.
These are the events we’re excited for – see you in the queue.
