Last week we shared how the big UK brands were stepping up to help the NHS – providing PPE, life-saving ventilators and special care packages to front-line workers. This week we look to those small and mighty independent businesses of Britain valiantly helping to support NHS charities and workers in some way, whether through donations or charity products.

We will update this article weekly, so if you run a small business doing big things for the NHS and would like to be featured, please do email lydia@thegoodwebguide.co.uk with ‘NHS’ in the subject line.

Castle Farm
Castle Farm

Family-run Castle Farm in Kent cultivates its own lavender fields, the harvest from which is then distilled on-site into aromatherapy products and toiletries. While the farm shop is closed, it is focusing its attentions online, offering four isolation care packs featuring farm-grown lavender essential oil. Lavender has been used for centuries as an antiseptic and anti-viral remedy, as well as to help reduce anxiety and aid sleep. Choose from a ‘Kentish Care Pack’, which contains Castle Farm’s famous lavender honey, handmade biscuits and even lavender grey tea. Or try a ‘Kids Care Pack’ with fun activities, a cuddly toy and edible treats. For every care pack sold, a bottle of lavender oil will be donated to a local NHS worker (eighty have been distributed so far), to provide a little relaxation and escapism.
