Sarah and Sally Wilkie are sisters-in-law and founders of vintage furniture and interiors shop, Home Barn. They found a 17th century tithe barn in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, and quickly began filling it with vintage furniture and homewares.

Realising that between them they had the skills and experience to turn a passion for vintage into a business, the idea of creating Home Barn together in 2010 was an outlet for their combined creative talents. Both women had an eye for vintage and antiques and were always being asked by friends to find things similar to those they had in their own homes. They also had a desire to work for themselves, to do something rewarding whilst also being able to enjoy life with their families.

Of course viewing the pieces in person is always going to be the best option but if you can’t get to the shop (about a one hour drive from London) they put (almost) everything online.

They are especially known for for reclaimed wood dining tables, available in solid rustic reclaimed elm and pine and in European oak.

Their stools are a collection of rustic antique and reclaimed wooden stools. Each one is an original antique and each is entirely unique. Perfect as a side table or as a place to rest a glass, I have my eye on a couple to be used as bedside tables.

I also love the selection of pottery, vases and ceramic pots.

They describe the barn as “The New Curiosity Shop” as it’s packed with exciting finds, from locally built reclaimed dining tables to antique cabinets and cupboards, vintage coffee tables, mirrors, vintage drawers, quirky office pieces and decorative items.

Both founders are locals, so supporting and promoting local businesses is really important to them. They work with local craftspeople to create their own line of bespoke products.
