Crouchers was founded by ex-Net-a-Porter buyer, Ben Matthews, who has resurrected his family legacy with a digital re-launch. A modern take on homeware and craft, Crouchers: The British Home Store is an e-commerce company selling lifestyle products from contemporary British independent makers.

Crouchers was established in 1910 on the Isle of Wight by Adolphus J Croucher. For more than 70 years, it was a beloved general store, bakehouse and post office, and became an integral neighbourhood hub for Islanders.

Ben is using his knowledge and expertise in luxury buying, to revive his great grandfather’s much loved Isle of Wight institution.

32cm Cane Mixing Bowl Copy

Blending British heritage brands alongside established independents and exciting new startups, the business focuses on three founding principles: Good design that’s built to last, locally made products that celebrate a modern multicultural Britain, and the brand’s trusted family heritage.

With a goal of allowing brands to tell their story, Ben’s selective edit celebrates the importance of community, craft and considered choices.

Studio Apron With Leather Straps Copy
The website is a really helpful place to get inspiration and shop for gifts. For the kitchen I love the design classic
Mason Cash mixing bowls. They were first designed and manufactured in the UK in 1901 and remain unchanged today. Also on my list to buy for friends who love cooking is the Risdon Risdon cotton apron with leather straps. This mother and son family-run brand based in Shropshire had an aim to produce a built-to-last superior choice of apron that did not exist in the market.

K.S. Creative Pottery Copy

A birthday gift perhaps for cheerful friends who have everything, I love the colourful smiley face plate.

The Glass Studio Copy

And for myself, these beautiful hand blown marbled coloured glasses, are perfect for summer outdoor drinks.
