Field & Flower is a UK food brand born from a passion for quality, sustainable farming and a desire to reconnect people with the origins of their food. The company was founded in 2011 by James Flower and James Mansfield, two friends who met while studying at agricultural college. The idea began on Flower’s family beef farm in the Gordano Valley, Somerset, where the founders sold their first meat boxes built from a single Hereford cow straight to friends and family.

Meat and fish boxes

The company operates a flexible subscription model, allowing customers to build customised meat and fish boxes with delivery frequencies that suit their needs, or simply choose one-off orders without commitment.

Field & Flower’s early days involved selling beef boxes at food events, where their authentic approach quickly resonated with customers. A breakthrough came when music festivals such as V Festival invited them to cater VIP areas with steak baguettes, pulled pork and lamb wraps, giving the fledgling brand exposure to celebrity audiences including Dizzee Rascal, Pixie Lott and Sir Richard Branson.

Award winning online butcher

Today, the business has grown into an award-winning online butcher and food supplier delivering fresh British meat and responsibly sourced fish across the UK. Field & Flower works with a network of small-scale farmers and fishermen, offering grass-fed beef, free-range chicken, pork, lamb, mutton, wild venison, salmon, trout, artisan cheeses, charcuterie, handmade pies and seasonal products like Bronze turkeys.

Field & Flower publicly announced their decision to stop sourcing Scottish salmon from open-net sea farms and switch entirely to land-based salmon from Iceland and Norway in the autumn of 2025. The founders felt that conventional sea-based salmon farming exposes fish to issues like sea lice, jellyfish, algal blooms and pollution from microplastics and antibiotics, which in their view fall short of the brand’s animal welfare and sustainability standards.
