Although wedding guest dress season is slowly drawing to a close, I have had a few friends recently mention reluctantly trying Kim Kardashian's underwear label to solve the common problem of needing invisible pieces under dresses. They became its biggest fan. With its inclusive stance on lingerie, Skims was founded to change the status quo. The brand's technically constructed shapewear and clothing is created with different body shapes in mind.

The label has a wide variety of shapes to discover and aims to enhance our curves with underwear that stretches to twice its size, from high-rise woven thongs to contour bonded briefs. Shapewear such as corset-shape waist trainers, high-waisted jersey shorts and several sculpting bodies provide the underlayer for that close-fitting dress or skirt.

Swim has been in the pipeline for some time, but bar a few behind-the-scenes campaign pictures Kim kept things largely under wraps. Launched earlier this year, she asked for the help from four of the world's biggest supermodels. Its latest drop was modelled by an all-star line-up including Paris Jackson, Bella Poarch and Madison Bailey.

As a solution-orientated brand that aims to merge functionality with style, the idea is to build your looks from a large assortment of separates. From teeny-weeny triangle tops and cut-out monokinis to more demure options including tan tops, unitards, cover-ups, shorts and cycling suits. The palette features the brand’s signature nudes and neutrals, with pops of electric cobalt and periwinkle.

The website describes the brand as ‘the next generation of underwear, loungewear and shapewear.’ and the collections are expanding fast into categories such as Sleep, Loungewear, Skims Hotel, and Faux leather.

With a wedding next weekend, and a backless dress to wear, I am going to put scepticism aside and give a few of their undergarment solutions a try.
