In 2008, and very much from the kitchen table, Julie Deane and her mother, Freda, started The Cambridge Satchel Company. They had a budget of £600 and a goal of sending Julie’s children to a better school. Fast-forward twelve years; the company has seen their bags adorn the pages of Vogue and shoulders of celebrities including Alexa Chung, Helena Bonham-Carter, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.

With incredibly successful collaborations firmly under their belt (Comme Des Garcons and Vivienne Westwood, to name a few) they decided to take over control of production and open their own workshop in Syston, United Kingdom.

The Cambridge Satchel Company now has four stores in the UK, London, Cambridge, Edinburgh & Oxford and has widened its range to include The Men’s Collection.

After such a success, it only makes sense that Julie was awarded an OBE for her services to entrepreneurship. We are huge fans of the brand and love how dedicated they are in supporting British craftsmanship and preserving important trade skills, which are evidently displayed in their beautiful collection.
