Complexion intolerances are a thing, and this innovative brand is tackling them head on, answering a trend for ‘skinimalism’, whereby many of us are starting to assess our skincare regimes and pare down to the essentials.

There are more ingredients than we think derived from food and deployed in lotions. This is a new area of research, but there is evidence to suggest that repeated use of topical products containing food allergens could trigger a reaction in someone who doesn’t currently experience them.

Launched by Karen Harwood and Victoria Tydeman, Oodee is an allergen-neutral, cruelty-free, and vegan skincare range.

Struggling with unexplained painful and stressful flare-ups for over a decade, Karen tried everything to soothe her skin, but nothing worked. The pair were determined to mirror in skincare the same approach taken to fix the problem by eliminating the same food-derived ingredients known to often trigger allergic reactions such as wheat, dairy and gluten.

For example, tocopherol, which is vitamin E is almost always derived from wheat or soy. So if you’re gluten intolerant it might seem counterintuitive to be rubbing it on your face.

Four years in the making, Oodee is the first and only brand to actively eliminate all known food and fragrance allergens from products. 14 major food and 26 IFRA fragrance allergens will not be found in any of their formulations. Replacing these ingredients is a DermaRDE+ multivitamin complex, packed with 22 ingredients, superfoods and potent actives.

Some of the most popular products include Halo Foaming Cleanser, which is known for its soothing, hydration-locking action, Aurora Perfecting Serum to boost luminosity, and the Nova Illuminating Moisturiser including vitamin C, grapeseed/crambe/jojoba oils and buckwheat sprouts.
