I have made a conscious decision to regard January as an opportunity. The social calendar is blissfully empty after a frantic festive season, and with the nights dark and the weekends cosy and slow, I’m using the month to reboot and double-down on my beauty rituals. Restoring my locks after overstyling in the party season, working on erasing my summer pigmentation, focusing on sleep and creating wellness habits that can bed in for the rest of the year.
Here, then, are the nine products I’m leaning on to help me do just that this January.
Gatineau
Golden Glow Gradual Tan Face Serum, £44
My summer tan is a distant memory, I love this skincare-gradual tanner hybrid to imbue my face with some sense of health in the depths of winter.
Byoma
Body Brightening Lotion, £13
This is a year-round staple for me but it works its hardest this month to give my super dry limbs a glossy, smooth sheen thanks to the tri-ceramides and niacinamide formula.
Weleda
Skin Food, £16
I have included this multiple times before and will again. A tube of this sits by my bed, on my desk and in my handbag at this time of year. Applied regularly to my dry, cracked hands it is a nourishing salve that blissfully soothes.
Origins
GinZing Glow Boosting Serum, £44
A new discovery late last year, I absolutely love this skin-wakening juicy serum under make-up for a glowy, dewy base.
Dr Dennis Gross
Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel, £21
I’m using these intense daily treatments to help brighten and refine my skin with a blend of seven AHAs and BHAs. There’s calming hyaluronic acid and green tea too, so I don’t find them too harsh on my skin – but with luck I will emerge in spring with glowy, even skin. Here’s hoping.
Olaplex
Weightless Nourishing Mask, £39
I have oily roots, but dry, over-processed lengths and a weekly bath with this slathered through my ends has helped balance it out and soften my hair back to health.
The INKEY List
Oat Cleansing Balm, £12
I don’t want to stress my skin out too much this season. The weather and central heating are doing quite enough of that, so I turn back to this old faithful: a rich, calming oat-based cleanser that’s as cheap as chips but deeply effective. Perfect for January.
Moodeys
Rest & Repeat, £49
I’m not just prioritising sleep time this January but quality too. This natural sleep supplement from Moodeys features industry-leading mushroom, vitamin and adaptogen extracts and I’ve noticed I sleep deeper and awake more refreshed when I take them.
Bertioli
Breathing Balm, £35
Another focus for me this New Year is on breathwork, something that I know can really help with my stress, anxiety and overall sense of wellness. As part of my morning breathwork routine I use this sweet, grounding water mint balm from Bertioli to signal to my brain it’s time for a moment of calm.
