Knowsley Safari Park

One of England's finest safari parks and zoos, near Manchester and Liverpool.

Knowsley is a stately home owned by the Earl of Derby, dating back to 1495, located near Manchester and Liverpool. It is also the home to Knowsley Safari Park, which opened in 1971, with 550 acres to explore and over 700 animals to see. With a five mile car safari, visitors will cross paths with lions, tigers, white rhinos and its infamous congress of baboons and their amusing antics.

With a walk around area in the zoo, visitors can see animals up close including elephants, giraffes and meerkats, to name just a few of what's on offer. The park is open daily from mid February to 31st October and then weekends only during the winter.

Visitors should plan a visit in advance and the best way to get an overview of what's on offer, we suggest you visit Knowsley’s days out page, Watch birds of prey swooping and diving in the show, Flight of the Talons, the very popular Sea Lion show, not to forget the amusement rides with unlimited access for the day of your visit.

Knowsley Safari Park is also the home to the world's biggest high ropes adventure course with sixty different aerial obstacles to complete.

Animal Encounters enables visitors to go behind the scenes and find out how the park and zoo operates, caring for the animals, with the opportunity to help out with feeding, where appropriate. For adults, there is the once in a lifetime opportunity to be a keeper for a day, choosing between elephants/giraffes, rhinos/baboons and big cats/hoofstock. The cost is £300 but the memories will certainly last a lifetime.

When booking online, you'll benefit from a 10% discount and it's worth noting that if you're planning more than one visit in a year, membership might be the answer, with exclusive offer.

You can also adopt an animal online, with various packages on offer and have the opportunity to visit your animal towards the end of the season.

Knowsley Safari Park offers the perfect family day out or school trip, with much to do, see and learn.
