With summer looming – and less than wonderful weather in the UK – it’s not too late to snap up a great sunny escape for July and August. Whether you want to relax and soak up the sun or pack your days with activities, Cathy Winston, the editor of 101 Singles Holidays, picks the best European summer holidays for solo travellers and single parents too.

Weekly departures in July and August cost from £1,185 for seven nights including flights and double room for sole occupancy, all meals, snacks and drinks plus a Friendship Travel host.

Departures on 21 July and 18 August cost £2,750 (a saving of £1,050) including all gourmet meals, fine wines and excursions, plus a free gondola ride for the August departure. Excludes flights.
