If you're searching for a holiday in late summer and autumn, Mark Hodson, Editor of 101 Holidays, has some great ideas

The world is opening up to the fully-vaccinated. With more countries added to the Green List, and more certainty that Amber List countries won’t be suddenly switched to Red, many people are now searching for a holiday in late summer and autumn.

Mark Hodson, Editor of 101 Holidays, picks the best of the options, including some last-minute bargains and UK ideas.

Escape to the gorgeous laid-back Greek island of Paxos where seven nights self-catering at Theodora Apartments is reduced to £499 pp from £1,050 pp, saving 52%. The deal includes return flights, departing Gatwick on 30 August, and transfers with Sunvil.

Vintage Travel has the stunning Maison la Seguinie, a gorgeous villa with private heated pool near Martel in Lot, South West France. It sleeps up to 10 and costs £2,636 for a week’s rental from 20 August. For four people the price is £2,236. The company also has last-minute cancellation offers.

Abercrombie & Kent has some private tailor-made tours including Highlights of Croatia – six nights from £1,030 pp with three nights in Split and three nights in Dubrovnik, including flights, walking tours and breakfast. This fantastic six-night tour of Jordan includes Amman, Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, from £1,845 pp including flights.

Club Med has some great discounts at its all-inclusive resorts in Portugal, the South of France and Sicily. At Club Med Da Balaia on the Algarve, seven nights costs from £922 pp (saving £158) or £1,108 including flights from Luton. Children under six stay free.

In Greece, the five-star MarBella Elix, which opened in May 2021, has discounts of up to 20% off stays in September and October. Prices for two people start at €115 per night in a superior double room with sea view. Flights to Preveza extra.

The Sani Resort is one of our favourite destinations in mainland Greece. At the five-star Sani Beach Hotel, seven nights half-board costs £1,220 pp (saving £137 pp) including BA flights departing 26 September and transfers with Sardatur Holidays.

Stay in the foothills of the White Mountains in Western Crete where the charming adult-only Arosmari Village Hotel has ten cottages, gardens, pool, bar and hammam. In September and October, seven nights B&B costs £1,118 pp including hire car, flights, welcome hamper and concierge services with Simpson Travel.

Are you hankering to get a ski holiday in the diary? How about Christmas at lovely La Rosière in France?
