The search for a mid-sized cross-body leather bag yields some great results with Paradise Row heading the top of Anna's wishlist.

My discovery of new brands always happens when I am searching for something specific. On this occasion the item in question was a new mid-sized cross-body leather bag for day to day use. This style is extremely useful for weekday office wear and then onto the evening over a dress. I prefer to buy pieces that can be worn all year round, so at this time of year, I am (reluctantly) trying to curb my purchasing of too much velvet and festive colours that retailers are tempting us with from all directions.

Some favourites bags that I found are the LK Bennett ‘Maggie’ and the croc ‘Marinel’ that comes in 3 colours.

The Aurora London ‘Gigi’ which i have had my eye on for a while since seeing the burgundy colour on my friend Amy.

Other Stories have a few options but it is the bold Leopard print that is a fun choice for brighting dark outfits.

And Russell & Bromley have a few great options, but I love the woven effect of the ‘Rowen Jamera crossbody bag’ and the ’Rowen Crossbody Camera’

In amongst all this browsing, I came across an emerging British leather goods brand called Paradise Row. With a recent collection entitled Empathy, they manufacture the bags locally in East London and were featured in The Times by Anna Murphy as the best bags under £500.

Paradise Row was launched in January 2017 by founder Nika Diamond-Krendel and is building a loyal following of engaged customers.

Originally I was drawn in by this ‘Peary’ bag from the first collection called ‘Core’ then spotted the ‘Hope’ and ‘Love’ bags from the Empathy collection.

The round cross-body bags with gold plated hardware face expressions source inspiration from the psychology behind human emotion, with the range consisting of five distinctive designs; Sorrow, Joy, Love, Hope, and Awe.

The bags are available from Paradise Row’s e-commerce site, or go and see them in real life at Bluebird on the Kings road. Also available online at Wolf & Badger and Young British Designers.
