After a near-fatal cycling accident, aspiring Olympic athlete Charlotte Roach set up online fitness club Rabble.

Young Olympic hopeful Charlotte Roach, who survived a near-fatal cycling accident, wants sports to be accessible to all. The 30-year-old is the founder of Rabble, a rowdy and energetic fitness community that helps people get fit without noticing. Rabble is both popular among players and personal trainers and PE teachers looking to increase their income potential. Rabble are currently training 80 instructors a month and are on track to be training 400 a month by the end of 2019. Today, we quiz Charlotte on her business journey.

I came up with the idea when… I realised that the last thing I wanted was to commit myself to going to the gym once a day for the rest of my life. There had to be a better way of staying active in a way that I could look forwards to it rather than dread it, and thus be happy to build into my lifestyle long term.

The biggest challenge is… educating the market. We've created a unique new concept that makes your workouts so much fun that you don't even realise you're working out. But no one else is running gamified fitness classes, so we have to make people aware that fitness can be this much fun.

The average day is spent… helping to grow our communities, creating new games and playing them!

The team consists of... a range of experts from banking, to digital marketing and many skilled instructors and fantastic players.

My favourite quote is… Ships are safe in the harbour, but that's not what ships are built for.

I am where I am today because of… a preference for action over talking and a desire to make the world a better place.

The best advice I've been given... just do it.

In five years I’d like to be… playing games across the globe and seeing a change in the perception from that of a chore, to the highlight of the day.

The thing no one ever tells you about running your own business online... It's one thing to have an idea, but you can never prepare for the reality - which is what it's all about.

The websites I most frequently use are... Rabble, The Daily Mash which keeps me amused daily and Meetup, a great online source of local authentic communities.

Our biggest mistake and what it taught us… don’t compromise on people. If you work with great people you can't go wrong!
