Launched this month, the Good Guide Transparency Toolbar provides online shoppers with information on whether products they find online are ethically and environmentally sound.
Once installed on your web browser, the Transparency Toolbar reveals whether products you are shopping for are safe, healthy, green and socially responsible according to a set criteria based on what you want to know rather than what retailers and brands want you to see.
The toolbar lets you customise your shopping criteria so that you only receive recommendations based on your personal values. Products perform on issues such as nutrition, controversial ingredients, animal welfare certifications, recycled materials, pollution, Fair Trade, Organic, Fragrance-free, energy efficiency, climate change, resource conservation, labour and human rights with a 0 to 10 rating system that helps consumers evaluate and compare products quickly as they shop.
PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS
Currently compatible with Google Chrome and Firefox, the Good Guide Transparency Toolbar works on sites such as Amazon.com, Target.com and Walmart.com and more sites will be added as time goes on. It will soon be available on the Good Guide’s mobile app too, allowing consumers to shop according to their personal preferences on the move.
If we are to put our money where our mouths are when it comes to issues affecting others, ourselves and the planet, then the Good Guide’s Transparency Toolbar is the least we can do.
