Who doesn’t love a juicy beef burger? But have you tried a Vurger? This month, the artisan veggie burger company, The Vurger Co is launching a crowd-funding campaign to raise money for their first ever permanent site. They are asking for £180,000 in exchange for 23.08% of their business through the crowdfunding platform, Crowdcube and quickly exceeded the target raising just under £300,000.

You may have spotted the fast, natural plant-based food at market stalls, festivals or pop-up restaurants, but the plan is to open a permanent restaurant in early 2018. Co-founders Neil and Rachel set up the burger company after suffering from persistent health issues; their plant-based burgers are made out of vegetables, seeds, nuts and legumes.

To entice crowdfunding support, the team has created a range of rewards including a thank you dinner for co-founders, a private tasting event for up to 15 friends and even a chance to dine free for life.

For now, and for the months ahead, they are hosting a temporary pop-up in Bethnal Green, East London. Go try their dishes such as The Auburger (think chipotle smoky aubergine, red onion and chickpea patty), the Classic (smoky black beans with peppers and corn topped with tomato and red onion) or our favourite, the truffle mac n’cheese.
