We’re getting a glut of wonderful ideas from the Instagram community right now, with lots of feeds really going the extra mile. This week’s act of Insta heroism come courtesy of Persian cook, Sabrina Ghayour.
The first person to scoop the accolade is the cook and bestselling cookery writer, Sabrina Ghayour. She is the author of four award-winning books – Persiana, Sirocco, Feasts, and Bazaar – all of which instruct beautifully on the art of Persian cuisine with its attendant balance of big and delicate flavours. .
In short, we love her in normal life. But we adore her even more in lockdown. Why? Because, along with her comedy gold kitchen novice mother (‘Mama G’), she has been bringing us easy-to-make at home recipes via IGTV – and unlike many valiantly trying to do this, she really is using store cupboard staples you’re actually likely to have.
The winners in our books so far are her flatbreads which, if necessary, can be made using nothing but flour and water (you can pimp them if you have the ingredients). We’ve also devoured her bean patties and have many more on our list to try (today may just be our potato pop day).
She gives substitutions, she wears the kind of slouchy relaxed at-home attire that makes us think she’s our kinda girl, and she walks you through it all, making it both fun and easy. Giggles, irreverence and absolutely no slickness to be seen here.
If you haven’t already tuned in, do so now: our hero.
