Sometimes you have to dream. And this feed is rich with reverie fodder. Frankly, we’re obsessed.

During lockdown, some of our Insta heroes have kept us entertained. Others have kept us informed. And more besides have given us brilliant ideas for keeping our kids occupied, or ourselves fed. This one isn’t necessarily helping us with anything practical or useful at all. What it is doing is giving us daily rations of beauty and inspiration.

@somewhereiwouldliketolive, which is co-curated by photographer Ruben Ortiz and interior designer Katty Schiebeck in Barcelona, does exactly what it says on the tin. It shows us an array of dazzling, sigh-inducing images of places from around the world that, as they quite rightly say, I – and probably you too – would seriously like to live.

For some, being largely confined to our hometowns, this may be an annoying reminder of places we currently cannot go for a multitude of reasons. But for many more – us included – it is a joy to be shown other places, especially when they are as astonishingly beautiful as these. They remind us, after all, that there is a big and wonderful world out there and that one day we shall rediscover it with renewed appreciation.

We defy anyone not to come over at least as little wistful when gazing upon images such as this one of Ischia; this of a South African lodge; Ben Pentreath’s idyllic house in Dorset; this rustic kitchen in Cuba; or this beautiful one in Switzerland. And then there is this extraordindary home in Brazil; this exceptional one in Spain; and this restaurant on the French Riviera. We could go on and on. All are completely different; all are united by sheer, unadulterated dreaminess.
