Parrot Print Canvas®
was the first site to enter this year's Website of the Year Awards and here, founder, Matt Dahan
tells us more about the business and inspiration behind it.
What was the inspiration for the site?
As a photographer in a previous life, we were unhappy with the quality produced by similar companies. Often seeing heavily pixelated or chopped prints, we saw the need for more affordable premium service run by a knowledgable and passionate team.
When did you launch the site?
Our site launched in February 2014.
What are your greatest challenges?
I think as a fast growing young company, the biggest challenge we face is capacity in the face of increased demand for our custom canvas prints. However ensuring we have the right employees and standardised manufacture process, we’re optimised for continued growth without sacrificing the quality of our products.
What's your background?
A background in (and passion of!) photography and business management.
Who do you admire in business?
I have great admiration for all entrepreneurs who have seen a gap in their given markets, and worked hard to achieve and realise their businesses goals in the face of adversity.
Please recommend a really useful app that helps you run your business
It would have to be the Xero accounts app
- I can be waiting for a train and at the same time deal with my company accounts on the go.
What is the best piece of business advice you've been given?
Always do something you are passionate about and love, and the rest will follow.
What is your motto?
I don’t have a motto per say, however it’s important in business to always be customer centric, and create the best possible product for your customers. Sloppiness and corner cutting does no-one any favours.
Where do you see the business going from here?
Without giving too much away, along with our commitment to product quality - we’ve got some very exciting plans for some great new innovative print products that will really shake-up the market place.
Have you entered an award before? If so, which one, why did you enter...
We were honoured to be finalists in the Art Business Website of the Year
category at the Art & Framing Industry Awards 2015 held by the very prestigious Fine Arts Trade Guild.
Where did you hear about the GWG Awards?
Is it not common knowledge that the GWG Awards is among the most prestigious website award ceremonies…?!
