Website of the Year

Accounts and Legal

We find out about Accounts and Legal, helping small businesses save money and grow.

Accounts and Legal offers tax services, accounting services and employment law advice to small businesses, professionals and entrepreneurs, estate agents, restaurants, pubs and hotels. Its range of services actively help its clients to grow their business. We talked to Jennifer Welford to find out more.

What was the inspiration for the site?

We wanted to set ourselves apart from other accountants who tend to use a very basic website, if they use one at all. Our main aim is to help small businesses save money and grow. In order to support this, our website is packed with free business advice articles and calculators to help entrepreneurs make the right choices.

When did you launch the site?

We launched the website along with the company in May 2013.

What are your greatest challenges?

We find that we have to work hard on our content to ensure that we are accessible to our target market when they are searching for accountants in London using Google. We are always coming up with innovative new tools to stay ahead of the game.

What's your background?

Our diverse team is made up of business professionals and experienced accountants to make sure that we can bring everything you can imagine into the mix, to give entrepreneurs the best experience you can possibly get from a pro-active accountancy firm.

Who do you admire in business?

We look up to a lot of other businesses, especially the big accounting firms as we want to be up there one day. But we want to do it by breaking the mould and carving out a new stereotype for accountants in the modern world.

Please recommend a website that helps you promote your business

We love Hootsuite. It helps us manage our social media marketing even when we’re asleep. It’s a must have for busy businesses who are using social media.

What is the best piece of business advice you've been given?

Always have a robust business plan. This will help you stay on track, give your business structure and will help you when the time comes to get a business loan.

What is your motto?

Look beyond the balance sheet.

Where do you see the business going from here?

We are growing at an unprecedented rate. Our clever, focused marketing and website is now delivering over 100 inbound leads a month. We are taking on new staff regularly. We want to join the ranks of the biggest accounting firms in London.

Have you entered an award before?

This year we have entered the British Accountancy Awards in the Start-Up Category. We are extremely excited.

Where did you hear about the GWG Awards?

There was a link on another website but we can’t remember which one. Obviously the GWG Awards were so exciting we jumped straight over to your website.
