My Tiny Plot

A Mum of two writes about her kitchen garden and about teaching her children to enjoy it too.

The secret of a good blog is that it should be engaging, attractive and an enjoyable read and My Tiny Plot ticks all of these boxes. If you enjoy growing your own food and gardening with your children then you will enjoy reading this blog.

Written by a working mother of two, Gillian Carson, My Tiny Plot is the online diary of her small kitchen garden in Bath, in which she documents her green-fingered experiences and achievements and discusses recipes, nature, design ideas and more. The photographs Gillian posts onto My Tiny Plot are descriptive and colourful; in fact, they often look good enough to eat.

Her children occupy a strong presence in the narrative and Gillian is a firm believer in encouraging the kids to take an interest in growing the garden, and hopefully to eat the fresh produce that comes out of it (see the post on Growing For Kids). Gillian has even written a little book called ‘Jackson’s Garden’, all about growing vegetables with toddlers.

This blog offers up a delicious little slice of family life. Whether cooking up the produce from the much-loved vegetable patch, introducing inquisitive little minds to the joys of gardening, or decorating grocery boxes to make a snow village, Gillian (with much self-deprecation) happily shares these homespun stories with her readers, many of whom must surely have been inspired to get creative and get outdoors with their little ones too.
