With the London Design Festival at the forefront of our minds, we just had to do a round up of all our favourite design blogs this week. If you’re in any way involved in typography, graphics or art then these little slices of web magic can’t help but float your boat.

We Heart
www.weheart.co.uk

More like an online coffee-table book, We Heart has a seriously extensive back catalogue. The site covers a broad spectrum of art and design, including Pop-Ups, Travel, and Food & Drink. There’s a great interview with art hoarder Selim Varol, the proud (and kooky) owner of over 15,000 pieces of plastic (toys, that is).

Grain Edit
www.grainedit.com

Grain Edit brings you the best design from the 1950s-1970s. The site offers articles, interviews and features on the most inspiration-packed design. There’s a lovely article on the history of typewriting, alongside picture galleries of beautifully designed book covers, and a great article on stamp designer Ze Cardoso.

Lovely Package
www.lovelypackage.com

Lovely Package does what it says on the tin and cherry-picks the best packaging designs around. Everything featured makes us squeak with excitement as we scroll through page after page of innovative design – who could turn down the genius ellipse-shaped egg packet made out of one piece of sustainable carton? Not to mention the design for Miller High Life beer, with the humble slogan “The champagne of beers” across the bottom. The best has to be Snoop Dogg’s smoking book – where the spine is a match striking the surface and each page is a rolling paper with Snoop Dogg lyrics printed on them. Lovely Package’s message is simple: great design is everywhere – including on your wine bottle, your chocolate wrapping, and that tin of paint on the shelf in the garage.

We Love Typography
www.welovetypography.com/
At We Love Typography, you’ll find everything that’s ever been beautifully written. For anyone in a creative business this stuff is, to coin a phrase ‘design porn’. Go on, have a peek – you know you want to…

Design Boom
www.designboom.com/

A veteran amongst its kind (dating back to 1999), Design Boom certainly has a refined eye. The site boasts a myriad of insightful interviews with cool people, exciting new architecture, art, design, and technology. We’re also crazy about the site’s competitions – nothing inspires creativity more than a deadline… And a prize.

It’s Nice That
www.itsnicethat.com/

To be completely honest we’d read this site for the name alone. Luckily though, it’s packed with great content as well – the full package deal with good looks and substance aplenty. Along with featuring established designers, It’s Nice That also takes on reader-submitted art. Ideal for anyone needing a pick me up.

Confessions of a Design Geek
www.confessionsofadesigngeek.com

Regular contributor to We Heart, Katie Treggiden’s adorable blog has us hooked. With a ban on negative vibes, this internet oevre is a happy mixture of cool interviews, stuff Katie sees when out and about – and a whole lot of posts on stylised numbers.

Cool Hunting
www.coolhunting.com/

This savoir-faire blog pushes all the right buttons. It’s the site that has everything – with categories neatly tucked at the top of the page, making navigation a doddle, as well as offering a tag cloud in the sidebar, with the order completed by the most popular list. The site makes cool hunting so easy – hand-feeding us the crème de la crème of the crop. Now that’s what we like.
