Qing Art

Bring the best of the Orient into your home.

Qing (pronounced Ching) is a rich resource when it comes to contemporary Chinese furniture, soft furnishings and Oriental lighting.

Set up by Anne-Marie Nixey, a former teacher from London, and her partner Mao Ping Yang, whom she met in China in 1999, Qing Art provides a wonderful online showcase of the East, letting visitors share the crafts and artistic pieces to come out of modern day China. Qing opened in 2007 in the historic Old Town of Margate, selling items from contemporary Chinese furniture with a unique distressed style, as well as contemporary art and more traditional items and antiques.

All the pieces featured on the Qing site have been sourced from designers that Nixey & Yang know and trust. A background to each of these designers can be found in the About Us section of the site, where more can be read about artisans such as furniture designer Yue, textile designer De Xian and traditional lamp designer Chen, who all use the highest quality materials in their work.

Items can be browsed online via principle categories: Décor, Soft Furnishings, Furniture and Boutique. A wonderful selection of lighting shows a wide range of traditional double lined silk lampshades in vibrant colours that accompany perfectly the sustainable hardwood bases that Qing artists use. These also work well with the silk and linen ranges of cushions and throws.

Meanwhile, Chests, Boxes & Stands are restored with care, allowing buyers to own a piece of history as well as interior design. Smaller items such as, Hanging Decorations, Chinese Ornaments and Chinese Art complement Sideboards, Cupboards and Ceramic Stools making up the rest of the range, with each item reflecting the founders’ very good taste and attention to detail.
