TasteFair hosted by Café Direct

Check out the programme of events at Whole Foods Market celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight

TasteFair is Café Direct's contribution to Fairtrade Fortnight with a host of events taking place from 21st February to 1st March 2009. TasteFair is held at Whole Foods Market, Kensington High Street and the fair includes food demonstrations from Tim Maddams of River Cottage and Joe Swift from Gardener's World; 'eco chic' design ideas from Wayne Hemmingway and Changing Room's Oliver Heath; live music from Vashti Anna, Hadar Manor, Quixote and Narration; an exclusive screening of the excellent film Black Gold presented by its director Nick Francis; children's story time and not forgetting lots of lovely coffee direct from the growers themselves.

Tickets are only £5 and are going fast so be sure to check out the programme of events. Book tickets online through Café Direct's website. Even if you can't make it to an event, you can drop by Whole Foods and have a tea or coffee whilst taking in the photo exhibition and all the other sights, sounds and tastes of the fair.

A professional barista will be giving free demonstrations on the science and art behind the perfect cup; from achieving the perfect espresso to beautifully textured milk. You can also see, touch, taste and smell coffee on its journey from seed to cup. There will be coffee seedlings, plants, and beans for you to roast and then taste under expert supervision. This is a unique opportunity to meet these inspirational people and share their passion for coffee. There will be plenty of coffee to go round; take home your own hand roasted beans to enjoy.

All proceeds from these ticket sales will go to Café Direct's Producer Partnership Programme, and specifically towards the recovery of the Coocafé coffee co-operative and its growers in Costa Rica. They recently suffered severe damage to infrastructure and crops following an earthquake on 8th January.
