Interior design apps picked by girl-in-the-know Cornelia de Ruiter of Homewings.

Gone are the days when interior designers were the reserve of the very wealthy. There is now a mass of home improvement apps to revolutionise the way you decorate your home. As founder of online interior design website, Homewings, Cornelia de Ruiter is a well-respected expert on the online interiors market.

Here she chooses her top five interior design apps...

This is a great app for measurements. It helps you quickly draw a room’s floorplan so no tape measure is required. You simply tap your phone against each wall after another and tell it when the wall has a window or a door. When you’re done, you’ll have a complete floor plan with pretty accurate dimensions. Download the app here.

This app can identify the colours from any image or photo, match it to its Pantone code and suggest complementary, analogous and triadic color combinations. Once you’ve created a palette, you can share it with friends via email, Facebook or Twitter as an HTML image or an Adobe, QuarkXPress, CorelDraw or Creative Suite file. Download the app here.

I love this app which is a basic hanging tool. iHandy Level is so simple but I use it all the time to make sure the shelves or artwork that I hang are straight. It’s really accurate and extremely easy to use. Download the app here.

Unsure if a particular picture would look good in your room? The Curate App allows you to virtually display the piece. Upload a photo of any blank wall and see what it would look like in situ. You can also use the app to browse other art from different galleries. Download the app here.

Design*Sponge is the perfect partner to my first cup of coffee in the morning. You can see space transformations by celebrities, interior designers and everyday families. Download the app here.
