GUCCI

Gucci’s collection is probably the most awaited show this season, after the fashion-earthquake which involved the dismissing of designer Frida Giannini, who has been at the helm of both the men’s and women’s collections for more than a decade along with CEO Patrizio Di Marco. The duo, who happened to be not only professionally, but also romantically involved (they also have a daughter, Greta), were fired in December by luxury conglomerate Kering, owner of Gucci.

Men’s and Women’s AW15 collections were supposed to be the last ones under Giannini’s signature, but she suddenly decided to resign before the January shows. Alessandro Michele, former accessories designer at Gucci, was then appointed as new creative director showing his first Men’s collection for the brand within Milan fashion week, with only one week to complete it.
The collection, featuring androgynous clothes made a clear statement; at once disruptive and undoubtedly original. The collection was well received by both press and buyers, who are now eager to see how Michele will redefine the women’s wardrobe.

Prada is certainly 'The Show', when it comes to MFW. Journalists, buyers and fashion lovers wait with anticipation for Miuccia Prada’s collections, as every time she changes the rules, flooring the fashion world with never predictable shows. Her rigorous yet artsy clothes are certainly iconic and the show itself often features impressive sets, sophisticated soundtracks and famous actors modelling on the catwalk (Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Gary Oldman… etc.).

When it comes to fashion, there’s certainly no lack of bloggers and insta-stars around, with Milan making no exception. Italian fashion bloggers are passionate and overly active, not to mention internationally renowned and they usually write their feed in English for a very diverse audience. Here we rate two of the best.
