Now that the assumption that Paris is ‘closed’ in August no longer exists in reality, there are plenty of reasons to visit the City of Light in the summer. Although many of the locals may have headed to the coast, restaurants and shops are open, and the lack of locals has the advantage of leaving Paris available for visitors to enjoy. The city takes on a festive atmosphere with events like open-air cinema, live music, and beaches along the Seine, and some great exhibitions to enjoy… and the trip is just 2 hours from London, so no queuing at airports. This stunning and elegant apartment is centrally located, close to the Louvre and the Palais Royal.
, sleeps 8, available 16th – 30th August
If one of the prettiest Cycladic islands beckons, we still have some villas available on Mykonos. One example, if you want to be close to the action, is this very attractive, and typical Mykonian white-washed villa overlooking the sea, and facing the picturesque harbour at Mykonos town, just 4 kms away. The long, sandy beach at Ornos Bay, with its selection of bars and tavernas, is just 2 kms away.

Choose to enjoy the dramatic views over Santorini from a villa perched near the caldera, provides a unique and unforgettable experience. This fabulous villa is situated in a beautiful spot at Akrotiri, dating back to the Minoan Bronze Age. The settlement was destroyed in the eruption around 1627 BCE and buried in volcanic ash, which preserved the remains of many frescoes and works of art. This beautiful and very atmospheric villa is about 10 kms away from the main town of Thira and offers amazing views of the volcano and the caldera, from its stunning terrace and infinity pool, particularly at night when lit up by candles.

The ancient port city of Split is centred around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian. As well as the huge palace and Old Town, with all their ancient buildings, Split has a wonderful harbour setting, with a seafront promenade, and a lively new town area. This authentic and private villa, with its beautiful gardens, is situated on the edge of Marjan Park, a protected forested area along the coast at the western end of Split. Just 100m from the old town of Split, and 500m from the nearest beach, it offers breathtaking views of the Harbour and Marina, and over the Adriatic sea to the islands of Brac and Solta.

If you want to visit the sights of Venice this summer, but put off by the idea of oppressive heat and crowds, then ensconce yourself on the delightful Giudecca Island, right on the water’s edge, with views across to San Marco. As well as two of the most famous churches in Venice, there are also plenty of charming restaurants and cafes here. We think this is the perfect location to explore all that Venice has to offer, with the centre of Venice and the Piazza San Marco just 10 minutes away by vaporetto.
