The Luxury Travel Book - Favourite Places

Freddie Marquis chooses some favourites from this stunning portfolio of holiday rentals.

If you're planning a city break and want to live like a local, we suggest you head to The Luxury Travel Book with its selection of luxury apartments and villa accommodation. The company only features destinations that it knows well and loves with a definite bias towards Italy and the Greek islands, both city and countryside retreats. Here, Freddie Marquis chooses some favourites from this stunning portfolio of holiday rentals.

SEVILLE: Apartment Rodrigo Caro Atico

I visited Seville for the first time last September, and immediately fell in love with the city. The historical centre is relatively small, centred on the city’s main tourist sites – the stunning Seville Cathedral and the Real Alcazar (royal palace). This four bedroom penthouse apartment is right at the heart of it, and also has a private roof terrace with views of the cathedral that can’t be beaten.

Sleeps: 7 people in total
Minimum stay: 3 nights
Weekly prices: From €2730

TUSCANY: Villa Fiesole

Situated just fifteen minutes from the centre of Florence, the location of this villa is fantastic. It’s in a spectacular rural setting near the village of Compiobbi in Fiesole, with beautiful views out to the Tuscan countryside. There’s so much to do with just a short drive of the property – while you can easily go for day trips into Florence, you can also visit the nearby Chianti towns and villages for wine tastings and gastronomical tours.

Sleeps: 8 people in total
Minimum stay: 1 week
Weekly prices: From €8440

PAXOS: Arkoudaki Beach House

Paxos has quickly become one of my favourite summer holiday destinations. Still relatively unknown compared to its other Greek island counterparts, Paxos can only be reached by boat from Corfu. It is filled with fantastic tavernas, cocktail bars and secluded beaches. This villa is situated in the peaceful north of the island, about fifteen minutes-walk from Lakka village. The property has plenty of wonderful outdoor space and terrace areas, as well as access to its own private beach.

Sleeps: 11 people in total
Minimum stay: 1 week
Weekly prices: From €10,000

PARIS: Rue de l’Université

With our plethora of beautiful rental apartments in Paris, it’s hard to pick just one. However, this three bedroom apartment in the heart of the St. Germain area wins for me. Its location on the Rue de l’Université gives it simply one of the best addresses in Paris, with plenty of cafes and food markets on the streets below. When you enter, you might be forgiven for thinking you’d entered a cool New York loft apartment. That’s until you look out of the large French windows with the fabulous views over the rooftops of Paris.

Sleeps: 6-8 people in total
Minimum stay: 1 week
Weekly prices: From €3500

PRAIANO: Villa Roma

Praiano on the Amalfi Coast is becoming one of the most popular destinations in that region of Italy – a quieter alternative to Positano in high season. This wonderful four bedroom villa for rent is located in the heart of the village, within easy walking distance of the beach, restaurants and shops. The property is full of atmosphere – an ancient house restored to high standards to combine the charm and quality of the original house with a new modern design. As well as having various terraces and a beautiful outdoor pool area, all boasting stunning sea views, the villa has its own colourful indoor spa.

Sleeps: 8-10 people in total
Minimum stay: 1 week
Weekly prices: From €10,360

VENICE: Apartment San Samuele

Having outdoor space in Venice is such a treat, which is why I chose this one. Situated in a great central location in the San Marco district, just off Campo Santo Stefano, this splendid three bedroom apartment comes with the advantage of a wonderful furnished ‘altana’ roof terrace. The terrace boasts spectacular views towards the Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art and out over this beautiful and unique city.

Sleeps: 6 people in total
Minimum stay: 3 nights
Weekly prices: From €3000
