Goldfinger Factory

How fundraising Goldfinger Factory creates furniture and a feel-good factor.

This week, we’re drawing your attention to Goldfinger Factory, a social enterprise training artisans and creating jobs with the support of Tom Dixon.

Located in one of London’s deprived areas, Goldfinger Factory is an award-winning teaching platform aimed at improving young lives through craftsmanship and design. In 2013, the team transformed a derelict space underneath the iconic Trellick tower into a studio space, woodworking workshop and teaching academy for local designers. They help the local artisans to become self-sustaining by providing access to workshops and retail space. In return, the artists give their time to train local people in the skills that employers want.

In less than three years, they’ve given 450 people the chance to attend workshops, and gave five local people scholarships so they can learn skills to get employed. They recently caught the attention of Tom Dixon and are launching an exclusive range of products with him.

Goldfinger Factory is asking investors for £38,000; they plan to expand to two new sites in London, offer four more long-term training places and invest in the latest digital fabrication processes.
