At Great Rail Journeys, all transport and accommodation is included in the price, as well as the excursions, city tours, guided visits and meals, which are specified in the itinerary. A tour manager meets travellers before leaving the UK and will take charge of the organisation and details of the journey. Excursions are designed to introduce travellers to the local highlights of the places visited, and a mix of cultural, historial and social activities aim to give a wide variety of experiences. Care is taken however, not to make travellers feel ‘herded' and those taking part have absolute freedom in deciding which excursions they would like to do; in turn, these do not have to be included in the price of the holiday.

CHOOSE A THEME

The Great Rail Journeys site is comprehensive in its description of the different types or ‘themes' of holiday on offer. These include: Classic Rail Journeys, European River Cruises, Cities & Sights, Winter & Spring, Lakes & Mountains, Steam Collection and many more. In addition to its range of rail journeys, visitors can choose to opt for Fly Rail in which visitors can fly to their chosen destination. Each tour can be viewed online, with images, an itinerary, price, upgrades, hotels and trains relating to each trip. Browsing visitors can also find a list of Alternative Tours to the one they are looking at, as well as Recently Viewed tours, so they don't lose track.

LAST MINUTE

Late Availability tours, for those making a spontaneous decision to travel in the next few weeks, can be found with breaks divided into countries.
