Peter Sidwell, up and coming TV chef and cookery writer, picks his favourite sites.

Peter Sidwell is an up and coming TV chef and cookery writer, who recently presented Lakes on a Plate TV series on Channel 4. Peter has worked both in the UK and cooked his way across Europe before returning to London. He decided that he’d like to get back to his roots to work on a passion of his, baking, joining a bakery near York for several years, refining his skills and learning how to make great bread and work with pastry. After a spell in corporate catering at an international bank, he decided to go it alone; a life changing decision and the beginning of Good Taste.

In 2007 Peter started writing Simply Good Taste, his first book. He published it himself and sold over 4000 copies in the first year. Following this success Simon & Schuster snapped it up, releasing the book on a national level in April 2009. Peter followed this up with a bespoke bread machine book which has just been re-released as a hands on bread book with more traditional recipes, Simply Good Bread.

Today Peter works from the Simply Good Taste Cookery School on the outskirts of the picturesque Lake District town of Keswick where he is busy creating new recipes and teaching themed cookery days and practical courses where you can really get to grips with the tricks of the trade, allowing your home cooking to become more enjoyable, and successful.

PETER'S FAVOURITE SITES

YouTube - I'm a big fan of youtube; it lets me broadcast video recipes worldwide and is also a fantastic research tool.

Twitter - My favourite social media outlet enabling me to contact friends and other chefs, as well as being a fantastic marketing tool.

BBC Good Food - This site has everything you need if you're stuck on a recipe or purely searching for new ideas.

Channel 4 Food - Another fantastic food media website with loads of video contents and recipes.

Eat Seasonably - A great site perfect for researching a new recipe. I’ve always recommended this site to my chefs to help with their understanding of seasonal produce.

Lakeland - Loads of great, funky and modern kitchenware that lasts. Also a bonus as the company is based in my back yard, the Lake District.
